Make No Plans for the First Weekend in May

Pip-550x827Well, unless those plans involve us. We have so much going on and you’re not going to want to miss any of it. First, on Saturday May 2nd at 2:00 in the afternoon, we have Maggie Stiefvater and Jackson Pearce coming to talk to us about the new book they wrote together, ‘Pip Bartlett’s Guide to Magical Creatures’. This is a charming middle-grade novel about a girl, Pip Bartlett, who can talk to magical creatures. When her ability to do so gets her into some trouble with some unicorns, she’s sent to live with her aunt, who is a veterinarian for magical creatures. With the help of her new friend Tomas, it’s up to Pip to save both magical creatures and maybe the town itself. (May 2nd also happens to be Independent Bookstore Day, so you can kill two birds with one stone: support an independent bookstore and meet a couple of awesome authors.)

animaatjes-star-wars-97834Then, on Sunday, May 3rd, we’ll have the first of our two days of celebration of Star Wars Day (May the Fourth–say it out loud). We have lots of exciting things in the works for the day, but we haven’t confirmed everything yet, so keep an eye on this space for details. One thing I can share with you, though, is that we are having a costume contest, so start thinking about which Star Wars character you want to dress up as. (Sorry, grown-ups, this is just for the kiddos.)

We also have a special guest planned for Monday evening. We’re still waiting on final confirmation before we can share with you who it is, but keep watching this space. As our schedule for our two-day celebration of all things Star Wars continues to come together, we’ll post updates and details here and on our website and Facebook.

There’s going to be a lot happening at the store between May 2nd and May 4th and we hope you can join us for at least some of the fun.

  1. Hey, just a thought. Should this blog include some brass tacks about the store regarding location, hours, phone number, etc.? 🙂
